Today we’ll play with “The Steps” being the “it”….. The AA apologist will tell that you have to “work a good program” which entails getting a sponsor and “working” the Steps. Uh huh, fine.
So when exactly during this 12 Step process is one cured of this wretched disease? I mean some people take months if not years to complete this ordeal. Yet, presumably they’re not drinking while doing so. Huh? If that’s the case, then why do you need to do them?
Ah, they’ll come back that until they complete the Steps they’re not truly sober because they still are “spiritually” sick. So again I ask, when exactly does this amazing spiritual transformation occur?
Is it when you declare your powerlessness? Or when you confess your sins in step 5 or maybe when you petition the Lord with prayer in Steps 6&7?
Wait I know, it’s during Steps 8&9 when you apologize to Cindy Jones for having called her a stupid head in 2nd grade!!!!!! That’s it.
No, all kidding aside, it’s obviously once you’ve advanced to this amazing “spiritual awakening” in Step 12 when you’ve become a full-fledged AA apologist and begin your missionary work of recruiting new converts.
Really? Do you realize that there is not ONE practical piece of advice in regards to actually stopping drinking if that’s what you want to do in ANY of these steps? Not ONE!!!!!
I hate to say it folks but quitting drinking is NOT rocket science. It’s not EASY but it’s not complicated either. In order to stop drinking you need to…….well……….not drink. Ok, I realize that there is a physical “addiction” that you have to endure overcoming and that withdrawal can be a bitch, but it’s obviously doable.
Ah, this is where the AA Apologist rears his ignorant head and claims that the drinking is “but a symptom of the “spiritual” disease!
BULLSHIT, dependent drinking beyond the physical component is more times than not, a response to other underlying issues or conditions. “Spiritual” diseases not being one of them.
They’ll actually try and tell you that people are “born alcoholic”……This is so absurd it just boggles the mind. You can’t be born “alcoholic” because you can’t become an alcoholic unless you drink “alcoholically” or as I much prefer, dependently. Unless Mama is spurting vodka from her breasts when you leave the womb, this isn’t possible!
Ah, but don’t you see, they’ll say, it’s the “spiritual malady” or the “dis-ease” that we are born with.
Again, Bullshit, everyone has stuff in their lives but not everyone ends up self-medicating or responding with dependent alcohol/drug using behavior. Some people just have better coping mechanisms already in place but anyone can learn these or improve upon those that they have.
Nobody is BORN an alcoholic. You’re not part of some club of “unfortunates” who had this debilitating “spiritual” demon seed thrust upon them that needs to be cast out via confession and faith healing.
So don’t buy it people, the AA apologist is simply spewing out what they’ve been “programmed” to believe.
Next time…..”Meeting Makers make it”……..Ugh……..
