MEETING MAKERS MAKE IT!
Make what? duh, lots of MEETINGS silly!
Ummmm, OK, and the implications of that would be?..................
Well from the AA cult standpoint this of course implies that if you don't regularly attend meetings then you won't make IT. Not again with that definitive "it"!
But Ok, let's say that "it" means having recovered. I mean that's the goal or should be, right?
FACT-19 or out 20 people that ever step foot in an AA meeting leave within a year's time. However, in the time that they were members of the "fellowship", they were "meeting makers".......They didn't make "it".
Thank goodness, they escaped before hopefully too much brainwashing and messages of powerlessness were pounded into their heads.
FACT-The majority of people who have at one time or another in their lives had an alcohol dependency issue, do recover at some point by either abstaining from alcohol or by learning how to partake in alcohol consumption in a moderate and responsible way. The overwhelming majority of people accomplish this independent of any "support group".
Very few are found stumbling around in alleys or found dead in the fields and those that are, probably had some major underlying issues beyond the fact that they were drinking themselves to death to somehow try and live with them.
FACT-There is no exit plan in AA. You are forever seen as "recovering" for life. There is no finality, no closure, no nothing.......Meeting makers are diseased for life......... they have made it......to more meetings..... and that is all.
If you define "IT", as a disempowering, depressing, alternative mind numbing dependency, then Meeting Makers do indeed make it.
If however, you define "IT", as overcoming an alcohol dependency and putting it in the past where it belongs, then Meeting Makers most definitely do NOT MAKE IT!
